“Children are great imitators so give them something great to imitate.”
Cultivating Brotherhood in the Community
Throughout the year we host community events. The events are for young inner city boys that we strategically choose by neighborhood. This strategy ensures that we create an environment that exposes the attendees to their peers, other boys from different neighborhoods. Given the history of Tampa many of the boys could potentially be future rivals. Our events are team work focused encouraging the attendees to work together, and never at any point do we create competition between them. The competition aspect of the events is between the boys, and a group of facilitators made up of young adult rolemodels. These facilitators are young successful men that grew up in Tampa, and many of them grew up in rival neighborhoods. They have put aside all neighborhood differences, and came together as an example for Tampa’s future leaders.
