Our Mission
Our mission is to decrease Tampa’s inner city street violence, by providing social and emotional education.
Over the years Tampa has seen large increases in street violence. In 2017 Tampa recorded the highest homicide rate seen in almost 20 years. Over 95% of the cases involved young black, and hispanic males from inner city neighborhoods. Our program was developed as a way of providing Social and Emotional education for young males in our inner city elementary schools. Our program focuses on developing advanced Emotional Intelligence, and Leadership skills.

Our Philosophy & Research
Feeling a sense of belonging is a very important social need for child development. In many inner city communities young males fulfill this needs by joining neighborhood gangs, and cliques. Research has found that these groupings are important social structures for the mental development of males living in at-risk communities. Young males make up over 90% of gangs. The unfortunate truth about these gangs is that they can be destructive to communities, sometimes responsible for up to 80% of the recorded violence. Gangs have thrived in the U.S for a very long time, and we wanted to know why they were so attractive to young males. We believed that if we answered the question why they were attractive, we could use that data to design a model that replicates attraction, and decreases violence at the same time. Our program is the product of years of practical experience and research of gang infrastructure, group cohesion, emotional intelligence, and child development. We believe our model will make a huge difference in the lives of so many young males.

Our Fiscal Sponsor
We are a Fiscally Sponsored project. This means our Fiscal Sponsor Anchor Vision Partners a tax exempt 501(c)(3) public charity, gives our program coaching, and suppport through the start up process. Although we have been a program for 3 years this relationship allows us to learn the best practices to reach our mission as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of our own. It also allows us to solicit tax-deductible donations under our sponsor’s exempt status.
